What items do I need to bring to test at WEDCO?

Patients will be asked to provide a photo ID.

Why have I not heard about my test results?

WEDCO only notifies patients who received a COVID-19 test in our clinics. Test results can take up to 72 hours to return. Please take into consideration the time it takes for the shipping and processing of samples.

COVID results will be provided during business hours Monday through Friday. Samples collected on Thursdays and Fridays will not be available until the next business day (Monday). Please plan accordingly if you require results prior to our weekend closure. 

WEDCO will notify patients of their test results via a text message. Please be mindful of settings filtering text messages from unknown numbers. If you received a positive test, WEDCO will send a copy of your results via the email provided at testing. Please ask your employer to use this as proof that you tested positive and should be isolating.

** Samples collected after 3:00 PM will be sent out the following day.**

I’ve tested outside of WEDCO. Why haven’t I received my results?

If you test at a site other than WEDCO, you must contact the facility to learn your results. WEDCO no longer completes contact tracing on those who test positive for COVID (i.e., Positives will not receive a call from WEDCO). Can my child return to school after receiving a negative test result?

The school system is responsible for isolating/quarantining person(s) from school-related functions and activities. Please reach out to your school district for their test to stay protocol. The school district will make the final determination on when your child can return to school.

School Contact Tracing: The school is responsible for conducting its own internal contact tracing & notification of close contacts. The school system is to report positive cases and close contacts to the Local Health Department. The school is responsible for isolating/quarantining person(s) from school-related functions & activities. (Close Contact means 3 ft. apart unmasked for more than 30 minutes).

Can I test out of the 10-day Isolation after I’ve tested positive?

No. Due to the ease of the COVID variants spreading to others, all positive results are treated as an active infection and will require completion of the 10-day isolation before release.

Does WEDCO test distinguish if the patient is positive for different variants of COVID-19 or other viruses?

The test we administer is only sensitive to the Coronavirus-19 (COV-2). At this time WEDCO’s agreement with the lab does not allow for variant detection.

Should I test again after finishing my 5-Day isolation?
  • WEDCO does not require a negative test for a positive patient’s release.
  • People who tested positive for COVID-19 are not recommended to retest. Patients who have recovered from COVID-19 can continue to test positive for up to 90 days. This is because the test can pick up traces of the COVID-19 virus after you are no longer infectious.
  • If your employer requires a negative result to return to work, WEDCO offers testing Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM at Harrison and Scott. Testing is available Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM at our Nicholas County location. Testing is closed from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at all locations.
